Justice League Flats issue #10 page 9 by Marc-F-Huizinga Justice League Flats issue #10 page 9 by Marc-F-Huizinga
Now, I'm a huge DC nut, but I really can't remember who those two next to cyborg are in panel 5, so chances are I won't finish this one untill I can figure out who they are again! If anyone can tell me that'd be great, I don't have access to the issue unfortunately.

Anway, here's my flats and thought I'd give some quick tips on them, for those that struggle with them.
First, never use anti-aliasing when doing flats. Anti-aliasing blurs edges, which makes selecting the flat colors a hell and will leave you with an edge of pixels that are left behind when you for instance change a color.
Second, don't worry about the colors you throw down when doing flats, part of the charm comes from the fact that you can always change the color later using your magic wand tool. Third, work from big to small. A thing I recently learned was to fill each panel with a color separate, then select that panel, and while I have that selected I start to unselect parts I'm done with. This saves a huge amount of time.

Here's some quick flats done today on a Justice League page. Pencils by Jim Lee.

I color my own comic (Crazed) and its a pain in the ass, but I don't think it would be the same without. I like shading, and finding a good balance, but it is a chore to do the flats of every part... Thank you for your tips.

I'm glad they helped! Personally, I'd like to delve into coloring work right away myself, but the flatting itself takes away a big chunk of your time.
